Blue Planet Foundation has offered to sponsor the March 2011 Showdown in Chinatown short film challenge. For those that don't know, Blue Planet Foundation is a driving force towards energy independence and a sustainable lifestyle for the Hawaiian Islands and the World.
This Spring, they are launching a marketing campaign called "21 Days." 21 days because of this... if the oil tankers for some reason stopped coming to Hawaii, all hell would break loose. Immediate blackouts. Gas for $20 a gallon. Anything and everything to hoard what was left. But eventually, the last drop would be gone. How long would that take? Somewhere around 21 days. It's a disturbing scenario and an interesting subject. At least, we think so. So much so, that we decided to wrap the next short film challenge around it. I can't give out too much information right now, but suffice it to say that the collaboration between Showdown in Chinatown and Blue Planet Foundation will be dubbed the "21 Day Film Project."
I'll give you 21 guesses as to how many days we'll be giving our filmmakers to write shoot and edit a 7 minute or less short film. Here's a hint... it's not 7.
This month's topic will be posted here on the site Friday February 25th at 5PM... and films will be due Friday March 18th.
If you want to learn more about our groovy sponsor... click here. Otherwise, see you on the 25th.
